Personality Not Included is a new marketing book for entrepreneurs, marketers and all businesses about the importance of personality and a guide on how to use it.

- It is FUN to read. That’s a very strange thing to say about a marketing book, but this one is full of stories told in an interesting way to demonstrate the points in the book. Ask anyone who has read it (or check out some of the reviews) and you’ll see that they all say the same thing, PNI is one of those rare books that you will enjoy reading.
- The ideas are PROVEN and THEY WORK. My day job at a top marketing agency (Ogilvy) involves working with lots of different companies in many industries. Brands of all sizes hire our agency along with me and my colleagues to come up with smart marketing strategy and then execute it. While I wrote PNI, I never quit my day job. So the theories in PNI are ones I am actually using for clients today, and they work.
- PNI goes BEYOND theory and into ACTION. Lots of business books are written by very smart people who develop theoretical approaches for a living. Theories are great, but if that is all you get from a book then you are missing the most essential piece … how to put their theory into action for your business. For that reason, this book has two parts - the first is about theory, and the second is all about action - featuring guides, checklists and other tools. Nearly half the book is dedicated to helping you start DOING something.
- This is NOT just another BLOGGING book. You might be tempted to think that this is a book about social media and why you need a blog, but it’s not. PNI is about the culture shift that takes place at great companies and how to make it happen in yours. Sure, blogs might be part of that, but they are not the whole story. Sometimes, you may not even want to start a blog. Either way, personality is bigger than that.
- EVERYONE in your organization can read it. One of the strengths of this book is that it is both strategic AND tactical, which means that anyone is an organization will be able to get something from it - you don’t need to be the boss to benefit or put the theories into action. Anyone from the VP of Engineering to the person answering calls in the call center will find advice to help them do their part to infuse personality back into your brand.
- LOTS of real life EXAMPLES. PNI features more than 100 brands, organizations, or individuals throughout the book. They come from all different kinds of industries and countries, but the main point is that you will definitely find something that is relevant to your business in the book.
- It one of the best marketing books for NON-MARKETERS you can buy. Aside from a brief mention of the “four Ps of marketing,” there is hardly any jargon or technical terminology used in the book. It features real stories, a readable style and logical conclusions. As a result, you’ll get something out of it whether you have a background in marketing and business, or are just trying to run your business a little better for the future.
- Personality is a GLOBAL concept. The examples in PNI will take you from the streets of India to the grocery store aisles of London, to a renowned restaurant located off a hidden road in the Costa Brava in Spain. This is not just another American book - it is filled with examples and ideas from around the world. I lived for many years outside American, so I understand what using “global English.”
- The book HAS A PERSONALITY. There are hidden jokes among the pages and even a secret URL to an alternate introduction for the book tucked into a corner that few people will notice (send me an email at personalitynotincluded@gmail.com and I’ll tell you where). All this points to is how to put the lessons of the book into action. It’s a guide that helps bring the book to life.
- Two words: BONUS CONTENT. When you get Personality Not Included, you are also getting a wealth of bonus content. There are URLs to lots of resources online, including lists, links and downloadable tools and resources. The best part is, I’m continually adding to this archive of information. So the useful content you’ll get out of the book doesn’t stop there. Check out a list of URLs at the back of the book to see what else you get … call it your gift with purchase.
